Gwangju Buk-gu to Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for 'Bandabi Complex Sports Center' on 26th... Completion Scheduled for May Next Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Moon In) announced on the 25th that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Bandabi Complex Sports Center’ at 10 a.m. on the 26th at Gwangju National University of Education, attended by Choi Doseong, President of Gwangju National University of Education, members of the National Assembly, city and district councilors, and representatives of the residents' council.
Earlier, Buk-gu signed a business agreement with Gwangju National University of Education and the residents' council in September last year, promoting the project through mutual cooperation such as collecting residents' opinions and sharing information.
The Bandabi Complex Sports Center, to be built on the site of the second playground of Gwangju National University of Education, will be newly constructed with a total investment of 14.3 billion KRW from national and city funds, covering a total floor area of 4,621㎡ (from one basement floor to two above-ground floors), and is scheduled to be completed in May next year.
The facility will include a basement parking lot, a first floor with a swimming pool (for the disabled) and a fitness center, and a second floor with a multipurpose gymnasium and a shared childcare space.
In particular, the swimming pool will have family changing and shower rooms to enhance convenience for the elderly and disabled users.
