Korean Women Entrepreneurs Association Gwangju·Daegu Branches Urge Inclusion of Dalbit Inland Railroad
Balanced Development of Yeong-Honam Region: Early Construction of 'Gwangju~Daegu Dalbit Inland Railway' to Be Immediately Reflected in the 4th National Railroad Network Plan
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Gwangju and Daegu branches of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association urged the government on the 24th to immediately include the ‘Gwangju~Daegu Dalbit Inland Railway’ in the 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan to enable its early construction.
On this day, the Gwangju and Daegu branches of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association stated in a joint statement, “Immediately include the ‘Gwangju~Daegu Dalbit Inland Railway Construction’ as a ‘new project’ in the 4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan and announce a concrete implementation plan.”
They further requested, “Please promptly prepare a promotion strategy and detailed action plan so that the aspirations of women entrepreneurs for promoting east-west cultural exchange and forming a metropolitan economic zone can be realized.”
The railway construction project between Gwangju and Daegu was first introduced in the National Core Transportation Network Plan in 1999 and has only been continuously reflected as an additional review project up to the 3rd National Railroad Network Construction Plan (2016?2025), resulting in 22 years of repeated discussions.
They expressed to the government that the Yeong-Honam win-win cooperation pledge “should not become an empty promise that only serves as a placeholder during presidential election periods, as various aspects such as the national transportation system, economic feasibility, and tourism have only been reviewed.”
They also added, “While economic feasibility is important for this project, it should be remembered that the core is a paradigm shift of ‘cultural festival exchange and regional balanced development through the reorganization of east-west transportation systems,’ which contributes to national balanced development.”
The Dalbit Inland Railway is a project to connect the 203.7 km section between Gwangju and Daegu with a high-speed railway, costing 4.085 trillion won, to establish a transportation network within one hour.
