Gurye-gun Resumes Operation of Rural Bus on Seongsamjae Route
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Soon-ho) announced on the 22nd that the rural bus service from Gurye Station to Jirisan Seongsamjae will resume operation starting Saturday, the 24th.
The county had suspended this route from November 16 last year to prevent winter season accidents and spring forest fires.
The Seongsamjae route in Gurye-gun picks up passengers arriving by train at around 3:10 a.m. at Gurye Station, then departs from Gurye Terminal at 3:40 a.m., passing through Hwaeomsa and the entrance of Cheoneunsa before reaching Seongsamjae.
After the first trip, buses depart from Gurye Terminal at 8:20 a.m., 10:20 a.m., 2:20 p.m., and 4:20 p.m. Seongsamjae departures are at 4:10 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 11:20 a.m., 3:20 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., with a total of five trips per day.
The route from Gurye Terminal to Seongsamjae has long been a beloved essential course for mountaineers who wish to traverse Jirisan from Nogodan to Cheonwangbong at dawn.
Kim Soon-ho, Governor of Gurye-gun, said, “The Seongsamjae route in Gurye is a precious section symbolically connecting Gurye and Jirisan. Despite difficult conditions, we will manage it through various means, including the introduction of electric vehicles, to improve the service quality and ensure the safety of the rural bus operating to Seongsamjae.”

Meanwhile, the spring climbing restriction in Jirisan National Park lasts until the 30th, and from the 1st of next month, hiking will be allowed on the main ridge of Jirisan, including the route from Nogodan to Banyabong to Cheonwangbong, as well as in Piagol Valley and Manbokdae.
