Gwangju Dong-gu Holds Idea Contest for Single-Person Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 22nd that it will hold the '2021 First Half Idea Contest' until the 21st of next month.
This contest was prepared to actively utilize various ideas from residents by additionally discovering them in line with the basic support plan for single-person households, which Dong-gu is proactively promoting in response to the rapid increase of single-person households.
The contest contents include ▲ proposals related directly or indirectly to the daily life of single-person households ▲ plans to create a healthy and stable environment for single-person households specialized in Dong-gu ▲ ideas to overcome social isolation and support lively independent living. Anyone interested in the development of Dong-gu can participate in the contest.
Submissions can be made through the National Sinmungo website, email, mail, fax, or in person. Submitted proposals will be reviewed, and outstanding proposals will be awarded prizes of 500,000 KRW for Gold, 300,000 KRW for Silver, 200,000 KRW for Bronze, and 100,000 KRW for Encouragement, given to the proposers.

Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “The proportion of single-person households in Dong-gu exceeds 45%, the highest ratio compared to other autonomous districts in Gwangju,” adding, “Through this contest, we expect fresh ideas with high resident awareness to prevent social isolation of single-person households and to form healthy independent living.”
