Gangjin-gun Starts First Rice Planting of the Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 21st, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do, marked the beginning of this year's rice farming by transplanting rice seedlings on 5,726㎡ of paddy fields in Hanlim Village, Byeongyeong-myeon.
The rice variety used for this transplanting, 'Taebong,' is being cultivated for the first time in Gangjin-gun. It is resistant to rice blast disease, has high yield potential, and boasts excellent grain quality.
Additionally, early harvesting is possible by the end of August, which can enhance price competitiveness through the sale of new rice, and is expected to contribute to increased income for farmers.
