Ssangbangwool Leads Social Enterprise by Hiring Disabled Workers as Regular Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Ssangbangwool announced on the 20th that it has hired four people with severe disabilities as regular employees at its mask factory located in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do.
Ssangbangwool plans to promote policies that help the economic independence of people with disabilities through the hiring of severely disabled individuals. Starting with this hiring, the company intends to establish internal systems where people with and without disabilities can collaborate harmoniously and to increase the employment of people with disabilities.
Additionally, on the 16th, in celebration of 'Day of Persons with Disabilities,' Ssangbangwool donated TRY products worth 40 million KRW to Goodwill Store, the largest integrated workplace for people with and without disabilities in Korea.
Goodwill Store, operated by the social welfare corporation Milal Welfare Foundation, is a vocational rehabilitation facility for people with disabilities that sells items donated by individuals or companies to provide jobs for people with disabilities. The donated products will be sold at 11 Goodwill Store locations nationwide, and the proceeds will be used to support employment and job creation for people with disabilities.
Kim Seho, CEO of Ssangbangwool, said, “Ssangbangwool will continue to take the lead in creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities and actively engage in various social contribution activities to help those in need. We will build a work environment that is friendly to people with disabilities and foster a corporate culture of mutual understanding and respect between people with and without disabilities.”
