Operating a Pet School Teaching Dog Adoption Preparation and Care... First-Come, First-Served Enrollment for Prospective and Current Pet Owners... Three Sessions in May, July, and September
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is operating a 'Pet School' that teaches residents who want to raise dogs everything from adoption preparation to care methods.
This education program was jointly prepared by the district and Konkuk University to spread a culture of proper pet care and responsible respect for life, as the number of households raising pets has recently increased.
The target audience is prospective pet owners planning to adopt dogs or current pet owners residing in Gwangjin-gu.
The education will be held three times in May, July, and September, divided into the 'Prospective Pet Owner Course' and the 'Advanced Pet Owner Course,' and will be conducted through real-time online lectures by animal-related experts, including professors from Konkuk University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
The main content of the 'Prospective Pet Owner Course' includes ▲ information and preparation for dog adoption ▲ considerations and health management at adoption ▲ socialization and etiquette training ▲ skin and grooming care ▲ understanding dog welfare and protection laws.
In the 'Advanced Pet Owner Course,' participants will learn ▲ human-animal relationships ▲ diseases and management by dog life stages ▲ advanced training for correcting behavioral problems ▲ massage and aromatherapy for bonding with dogs ▲ healing through bonding and prevention of pet loss syndrome.
After completing the education, students will take a test to confirm what they have learned, and those who pass will be issued a certificate of completion from the Pet School.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 30 people per course for all sessions starting April 19. Residents who wish to participate can apply by accessing the QR code and submitting the application form.
