On the 14th, KT&G, which participated in the 2nd declaration ceremony of the ‘Korean-style Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition 100 (K-EV100)’ held at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, is expected to accelerate its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management to address environmental issues such as greenhouse gas reduction.
‘K-EV100’ is a project led by the Ministry of Environment in which private companies publicly declare to convert 100% of their owned or leased vehicles to zero-emission vehicles by 2030. Starting with the ‘K-EV100’ declaration, KT&G plans to gradually implement the conversion of all vehicles at its business sites to eco-friendly electric vehicles.
If KT&G converts all of its current business vehicles to eco-friendly cars by 2030, it is expected to achieve a greenhouse gas reduction effect of over 20,000 tons.
Meanwhile, KT&G is accelerating eco-friendly management by establishing dedicated ESG organizations such as the ESG Planning Team and the Energy and Environment Technology Team. Through these specialized teams, the company is establishing a company-wide ESG management system and focusing on optimizing energy efficiency, introducing renewable energy, and designing environmentally friendly products.
In addition to this eco-friendly management, KT&G was recognized for the excellence of its overall ESG management activities, including social responsibility and advanced governance, and in February, it received the highest rating of ‘AA’ among domestic companies in the ESG index evaluation conducted by MSCI, a global investment information provider.
