Gimhae City to Launch '2021 Visiting Bookstart' from May
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 14th that it will support the operation of ‘Visiting Bookstart’ at 10 locations, including Juchon Didimdol Small Library, from May to November.
Bookstart is a community cultural movement in which Bookstart Korea and local governments collaborate under the slogan ‘Start life with books.’
Since 2007, the city has been gifting book packages to newborn babies and operating follow-up Bookstart programs year-round at the municipal library to create a continuous reading environment through play with books.
The first half ‘Visiting Bookstart’ in May and June will be conducted non-face-to-face to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Programs such as picture book reading and book play, designed for children aged 36 to 48 months and their families to enjoy together at home, will be produced as videos and conducted online.
The second half ‘Visiting Bookstart’ from September to November will be conducted face-to-face for babies aged 24 to 36 months.
