Gwangju City to Host Hanmaeum Dementia Overcoming National Walking Event Starting from the 23rd
Held Online and Offline Non-Face-to-Face Until May 7
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 12th that it will hold the ‘2021 Hanmaeum Dementia Overcoming National Walking Event’ from the 23rd of this month to May 7th.
Held under the theme ‘Sharing Hope with Dementia愛,’ this event is a nationwide walking event wishing for the overcoming of dementia by practicing ‘walking,’ which is good for dementia prevention. It is held annually to promote prevention information and raise awareness about dementia.
The event is jointly organized by Gwangju City, Gwangju Metropolitan Dementia Center, and the dementia safety centers of five autonomous districts. Considering the COVID-19 situation, this year’s event will be conducted as an online and offline non-face-to-face event.
To participate online, install the mobile app ‘WalkOn,’ search for ‘Gwangju Metropolitan Dementia Center,’ and select to join the challenge. For offline participation, visit the dementia safety center of each autonomous district by the 22nd to pre-register and then participate.

Among online participants, 250 people who walk more than 100,000 steps, 50 people who leave photos walking with their families and dementia overcoming hope messages, and 250 offline participants will receive prizes on a first-come, first-served basis.
