Whoscall & Company will strengthen its voice phishing prevention service for 8.5 million monthly 'Whoscall' app users by receiving a database of phone numbers suspected of criminal activity from the police agency.
The police agency will register the official phone numbers of police stations nationwide as safe numbers in the Whoscall app. This measure is to help identify genuine police official numbers amid the recent increase in voice phishing scams impersonating the police, allowing Whoscall app users to safely answer calls from the police.
This cooperation between Whoscall & Company and the police agency is not the first. In 2019, Whoscall & Company signed a business agreement with the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, receiving about 1,500 phone numbers suspected of being misused for crimes, and preemptively detected approximately 7.5 million calls and text messages monthly.
