[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 8th that it will hold a special planned exhibition titled “Gwangju·Jeonnam Buncheong Ware Master Artists” next month at the Buncheong Culture Museum to modernly inherit the tradition of Goheung Buncheong ware, featuring numerous Buncheong ware specialist artists active in Gwangju and Jeonnam.
Undari, Goheung, which once flourished with splendid ceramic culture, has long been recognized as a treasure trove of Buncheong ware characterized by its freedom, liveliness, and striking beauty. In particular, it is known for the soft Deombak Buncheong ware, which appears as if dipped and pulled out from white clay slip.
This is the second special exhibition held at the Goheung Buncheong Culture Museum, aiming to inherit the beautiful charm of Goheung Buncheong ware and to develop and continue various ceramic techniques of Buncheong ware. The exhibition will showcase numerous works that embody artistic and creative sensibilities with a modern touch, fully demonstrating the allure of Buncheong ware.
The exhibition opening event is scheduled to be held next month in front of the special exhibition hall at the Buncheong Culture Museum, focusing on invited artists and visitors.
