Naju Mayor Kang In-gyu Joins the 'Plastic-Free Go Go Challenge'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Kang In-kyu, mayor of Naju City, participated on the 6th in the ‘Plastic-Free GoGo Challenge’ to reduce the use of disposable products and plastics in daily life.
The GoGo Challenge is a campaign to reduce plastic use by refusing one thing not to do in daily life and practicing one thing to do instead. Since January, it has been conducted in a relay nomination format starting from the Minister of Environment.
Mayor Kang, who was nominated by Hwasun County Governor Koo Choong-gon, promised “Stop using disposable products! Run with reusable products!” and posted the phrase on his social networking service (SNS).
As the next relay nominee, he nominated Kim Young-gil, Director of Naju Office of Education.
Mayor Kang encouraged participation, saying, “The arrival of a global carbon-neutral era for ecosystem preservation and the transition to a plastic-free society due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic are unavoidable tasks. Let’s start practicing small daily actions we can do now, such as refraining from using disposable paper cups, sorting transparent PET bottles, and reusing ice packs.”
