Gwangju Office of Education Conducts 'School Sports Club Human Rights Education Visiting Schools'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 6th that it will conduct ‘School-Visiting School Sports Club Human Rights Education,’ which focuses on discussion and experience rather than traditional lecture-based education, targeting student athletes to prevent human rights violations in school sports clubs in advance.
This human rights education will be held from the 5th of this month until the 31st of next month.
The ‘School-Visiting School Sports Club Human Rights Education’ targets 56 middle and high schools’ sports clubs within the jurisdiction.
The program involves student athletes sharing their thoughts on potential human rights violation issues that may occur during school sports club activities and engaging in role-playing scenarios to find proper responses and solutions to human rights violations.
A student athlete who participated in the education said, “I realized that actions I used to think of as jokes actually violate the human rights of my teammates and juniors, and through this education, I was able to feel the importance of understanding and considering others.”
