[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Heo Seonsik] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 6th that it won the grand prize in the International Marine Tourism and Leisure City category for the 6th consecutive year at the "12th 2021 National Brand Awards."
The Korea National Brand Awards is a prestigious award given to the best brands in various sectors representing domestic industries, cities, agricultural and food products, and culture, based on the National Brand Competitiveness Index (NCI) derived from preliminary research, consumer surveys, and final expert evaluations.
Yeosu City ranked first in the International Marine Tourism and Leisure City category with a comprehensive score of 77.56 points based on consumer evaluations in six areas including brand awareness, satisfaction, and global competitiveness. Shinan, Namhae, Wando, and Geoje followed.
Despite the decline in tourism demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the continuous promotion of non-face-to-face healing travel through "Healing Yeosu-ya," on-tact virtual travel, and the spotlight on island and marine wellness tourism have resulted in sustained satisfaction, expectations, and potential demand for Yeosu tourism.
The city plans to proactively respond to changes in tourism trends and continuously promote Yeosu's charm through timely content development and tourism marketing strategies.
Additionally, to ensure safe and healthy tourism in Yeosu, the city will emphasize its clean image through active quarantine activities and inspections, aiming to revitalize tourism.
