Jeonnam Province Begins Distribution of Disaster Relief Funds for Agriculture Sector
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province has begun distributing agricultural sector support funds included in the government's 4th disaster relief package.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 6th, this support consists of two types: the ‘Temporary Management Support Voucher,’ which provides 300,000 KRW to small-scale farms, and the ‘COVID-19 Overcome Farming Support Voucher,’ which provides 1,000,000 KRW per farm to five major sectors heavily affected by COVID-19.
The ‘Temporary Management Support Voucher’ targets farms that meet the criteria of small-scale farms, such as those with a cultivation area of 0.5 hectares or less.
However, recipients must have received the small-scale farm direct payment last year and be registered in the agricultural management entity registration information as of the announcement date (April 1). A total of 76,950 farms in the Jeonnam region qualify.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs individually notified eligible recipients on the 2nd. Eligible farms can apply by visiting the local agricultural or livestock cooperative bank in their farmland area or online via the Nonghyup Card website by the 30th.
The voucher worth 300,000 KRW will be provided by charging points to a Nonghyup credit or debit card.
The ‘COVID-19 Overcome Farming Support Voucher’ targets farms whose sales decreased compared to the previous year, including flower farms, winter watermelon farms, eco-friendly agricultural product producers supplying school meals, horse breeding farms, and rural experience and recreation villages. Support will be provided to a total of 7,227 farms, including 1,216 flower farms, 5,838 eco-friendly agricultural product producers supplying school meals, 4 horse breeding farms, and 169 rural experience and recreation villages within the province.
The application period for online submissions starts on the 12th, and in-person applications begin on the 14th; all applications must be submitted by the 30th.
Applicants should prepare supporting documents verifying sales, such as shipment performance certificates and bank deposit statements, and apply through the COVID-19 Overcome Farming Support Voucher website or the township, town, or neighborhood community service centers in their farmland area.
Once confirmed as eligible, farms will receive 1,000,000 KRW per farm via a prepaid card. The prepaid card can be used until September 31.
Soyoungho, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock and Food Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “Thanks to Jeonnam Province’s proactive role, farmers were included in this 4th disaster relief package. We hope this will help stabilize the livelihoods of farms struggling due to COVID-19.”
