View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] DL E&C (formerly Daelim Industrial) announced on the 6th that it will provide customers with residential products of meticulously managed quality, surpassing the limitations of traditional construction companies to the level of manufacturing. To this end, the company plans to actively introduce digital technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at construction sites to carefully manage even the finest details. BIM and AI will handle everything from design to cost and process management on site, and big data will be used to establish customer-tailored bidding strategies. It is expected that the information derived from BIM will be shared with partner companies to practice mutual growth.
The multi-family housing constructed by DL E&C will have AI derive optimal design plans that satisfy various customer demands by considering the location. By inputting the environmental conditions where the apartment will be built, the company is accelerating the development of technology applying the concept of ‘generative design,’ which can conduct thousands of designs within a day and compare them to propose the optimal design. AI calculates the optimal distance between buildings considering the apartment location, while also designing building layouts so that as many households as possible can enjoy abundant sunlight and views.
Since this year, DL E&C has been the first in the industry to manage the entire construction cost, including electrical and mechanical equipment, as big data through BIM. This is to improve quality and bidding competitiveness with accurate construction costs. Since last year, various information generated from major construction types has been collected as big data, and currently, budgets for all site structures and finishes are calculated and organized through BIM. All cost information is embedded in the 3D design drawings, enabling anyone to easily grasp costs with a single click, allowing meticulous quality control. Additionally, bidding strategies can be established by reflecting bid amounts and construction periods derived from project-specific cost information managed as big data, further enhancing bidding competitiveness.
DL E&C also plans to strengthen mutual growth with partner companies through BIM. It intends to provide partner companies with drawings integrated with big data and cost information collected through BIM to promote productivity improvement. Partner companies can predict the amount of resources needed before construction execution and secure cost transparency through shared information.
