Gwangju City Conducts Survey on Parts Companies to Foster Future Automotive Industry
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 31st that it will conduct a survey on local parts companies to prepare customized support measures for fostering the future automobile industry.
The survey will be conducted to establish comprehensive support measures covering the entire cycle from future automobile research and development, testing and certification, to production, and to resolve difficulties faced by local companies due to paradigm shifts in the automobile industry.
Recently, the paradigm of the automobile industry is rapidly shifting from internal combustion engine vehicles to future cars such as hydrogen vehicles, electric vehicles, and autonomous vehicles due to strengthened emission regulations, the development of information and communication technology (ICT), and the spread of the sharing economy.
Accordingly, as concerns among local parts companies centered on internal combustion engines are growing due to the transition to future cars, Gwangju City plans to conduct a survey by the end of June targeting about 300 automobile parts companies in cooperation with the Gwangju Green Car Promotion Agency.
The survey will identify general company status, main products and partner companies, promising items, plans to enter the future car market, experiences and satisfaction with support projects through methods such as on-site visits, phone calls, and mail.
Based on the survey results, the overall status and trends of the local automobile parts industry will be understood and used as indicators for strategic development to prepare customized support measures.
In addition, to listen to companies' difficulties and gather opinions from local related organizations, regular company meetings will be held to hear vivid voices from the field.
Currently, Gwangju City is promoting projects such as the eco-friendly automobile parts cluster construction project, eco-friendly automobile parts certification center construction project, hydrogen charging station establishment and operation project, light SUV parts commercialization support project, and automobile parts company capacity enhancement support project to support and build the foundation for local automobile parts companies.
