[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 30th at 5 p.m., Noh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo-gu, Seoul, attended the 'Community Contribution Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony' held in the auditorium on the 2nd floor of the Gangseo Lifelong Learning Center.
The Gangseo-gu Scholarship Foundation has been operating the 'Community Contribution Scholarship Program' since 2019 to provide educational opportunities to underprivileged children and nurture local talents.
Students participating in the community contribution scholarship become mentors for elementary, middle, and high school students in the area, providing academic guidance, arts and physical education, career exploration, and counseling at local children's centers and welfare centers.
Especially this year, there were many applications from outstanding students, and to offer more benefits to students struggling due to COVID-19, the program was expanded, ultimately selecting a total of 35 students.
Participating students will engage in mentoring activities such as supporting learning activities and counseling at local children's centers and welfare centers for nine months starting in April, receiving scholarships of up to 1.2 million won.
