View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo National University (President Park Min-seo) announced on the 26th that Professor Kim Sun-hwa of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature was elected as the new president for a two-year term starting in March at the regular general meeting of the Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature held at Suncheon National University last January.
The Korean Association of Japanese Language and Literature was founded in 1995 and currently has over 800 members. It is a nationwide academic society that publishes the journal "Japanese Language and Literature," which is registered with the Korea Research Foundation, four times a year.
Additionally, the association has held international academic conferences every spring and fall, and this October, it plans to hold an international conference at Jeonju University under the theme "The Future of Japanese Studies in Response to the Social Paradigm Shift in the Digital Age."

Newly appointed President Kim Sun-hwa expressed her aspirations, saying, "Despite the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis and the seemingly endless difficulties in Korea-Japan relations, which have made Japanese-related departments face harsh and challenging circumstances, I will take the lead in creating a research environment that shares research achievements and nurtures the next generation of scholars by working together with all members."
