Gyeonggi-do to Invest 12.9 Billion KRW in Sports Project Support This Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will invest approximately 12.98 billion KRW in the member sports organizations support project to discover and nurture professional athletes in the province and to enhance leisure activities for amateur sports club members.
On the 25th, the province held a 'project briefing session' for the staff of member sports organizations at the Gyeonggi Sports Council building.
Member sports organizations refer to sports associations such as the Athletics Federation and Football Association. There are 65 sports organizations in the province.
This support project is divided into four parts: ▲ Support for sport revitalization (2.42 billion KRW) ▲ Participation in the National Comprehensive Sports Competition (8.34 billion KRW) ▲ Hosting provincial comprehensive competitions (580 million KRW) ▲ Training of coaches and athletes (1.7 billion KRW).

A provincial official emphasized, "We will gather various opinions to determine the support direction by collecting feedback from local sportspeople and for the development of sports in the province," adding, "Sports administration will also be operated more systematically and transparently."
