AmCham Holds Meeting with Korean Government and Hotel Industry to Promote Revitalization
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea) announced on the 25th that it held a meeting with Kim Sung-jin, KOTRA Foreign Investment Ombudsman, to revitalize the hotel industry. The meeting, held at AMCHAM's Yeouido office, was attended by general managers and officials from global hotel chains in Korea. They discussed the current challenges faced by the hotel industry due to the COVID-19 outbreak and shared overall opinions including requests regarding social distancing regulations.
At the meeting, industry representatives urged for more consistent policy application related to social distancing and requested the establishment of communication channels that allow regular and transparent communication with government authorities.
James Kim, Chairman and CEO of AMCHAM, said, "AMCHAM deeply appreciates the Korean government's transparent and advanced response to overcoming COVID-19, and highly values the leadership of the Foreign Investment Ombudsman who actively listens to the difficulties of global investment companies in Korea." He added, "The global hotel industry has exemplary complied with domestic social distancing norms to respond to COVID-19, and hopes to continue close cooperation with the Korean government for Korea's economic recovery."
