SKB Exclusively Releases Kakao Originals Like 'Yeonae Revolution' and 'Myeoneuragi' on Btv and Channel S
SK Broadband Partners with Kakao Entertainment for Content Collaboration
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Broadband will exclusively release KakaoTV original content through B tv and ‘Channel S.’
On the 25th, SK Broadband announced that it has signed a content business partnership with Kakao Entertainment to secure differentiated competitiveness in the media market.
This partnership was made to combine SK Broadband’s platform with Kakao Entertainment’s planning and production capabilities, providing diverse content that viewers of various age groups have never experienced on TV before. SK Broadband will strengthen its platform competitiveness by offering exclusive differentiated content, while Kakao Entertainment will enhance content awareness and influence through platform expansion.
Through this partnership, SK Broadband will provide customers with 26 titles of KakaoTV original content produced by Kakao Entertainment since last September all at once. Additionally, it plans to showcase a total of about 70 titles and over 1,000 episodes, including original content such as variety shows and dramas planned and produced by Kakao Entertainment this year.
Starting from the 25th of this month, SK Broadband will service a total of 26 titles and 257 episodes through the ‘KakaoTV x B tv’ menu under TV Replay Home on B tv. This includes popular dramas such as Love Revolution (30 episodes), Daughter-in-law (12 episodes), Not Yet Thirty (15 episodes), and various variety contents like Jjin Kyung-gyu, Next Door to a Famous Restaurant, and My Dream is Ryan. Newly released content will be pre-released on KakaoTV and then scheduled on B tv. As a B tv VOD scheduling event, from the 25th of this month to the 7th of next month, all customers who purchase 10 or more episodes will receive a 3,000 KRW discount coupon, and the top 50 viewers will be gifted a Kakao Ryan doll.
Channel S will also provide KakaoTV original content exclusively on a paid broadcasting channel. Channel S is a variety-specialized channel of Media S, a subsidiary established by SK Broadband earlier this year, and is scheduled to launch in April. Channel S aims to be a quality number one channel offering variety shows and dramas that people of all ages can relate to and enjoy.
Media S plans to collaborate with various operators to produce original content in the future. In the mid to long term, it is also considering establishing a studio to strengthen its own production capabilities.
Kim Hyuk, Head of Media Strategy at SK Broadband, said, “We are pleased that viewers of B tv and Channel S will be able to enjoy high-quality content on TV through this partnership,” and added, “We plan to continuously expand cooperation between the two companies.”
