[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 24th that Mayor Im Taek visited outstanding preliminary social enterprises in the district to directly hear voices from the field and encourage the stakeholders.
The visited company, "Teolbo's Coffee Playground Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Young-jin)," is a specialty hand-drip coffee shop located in Pureungil Park, an urban resting space. It pursues the "luxurious popularization of coffee culture" and is a representative preliminary social enterprise leading the coffee market in Dong-gu, Gwangju.
The main business includes producing and selling 17 types of single-origin specialty beans, 9 types of premium beans, 6 types of specialty drip bags, and 3 types of blended beans both online and offline, while also taking the lead in creating jobs for vulnerable groups such as low-income individuals.
Additionally, it is a socially responsible company providing free education in hand-drip, coffee roasting, and barista courses to vulnerable groups such as out-of-school youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
Last year, the company patented and commercialized two types of instant stick-type powdered coffee by freeze-drying drip coffee concentrate made from specialty Geisha blended beans. This month, it conducted a live commerce event on 11st and sold out the "Drip Bag Coffee Gift Set," breaking down market entry barriers and receiving positive responses.
