[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at Honam University announced on the 24th that it held a roundtable discussion on the 23rd in Room 1 of the Gyeongjeon Hall on campus under the theme "A Study on the Utilization and Development Plan of Liberal Arts Courses for Cultivating Humanistic Literacy."
The roundtable was attended by Professor Yoon Young, the responsible professor (Department of Korean Language), and full-time researchers.
Professor Park Jeong-hwan of the AI Liberal Arts College, the presenter, emphasized the importance of teaching methods and instructors for operating the liberal arts course "Life and Literacy" aimed at cultivating humanistic literacy.
“Life and Literacy,” newly established this year, encompasses literacy competencies in various areas such as human, social, and global to strengthen the fundamental capabilities needed for the profound changes brought by a hyper-connected society.
At the roundtable, full-time researchers agreed on the need to prepare teaching methods for online non-face-to-face classes, considering the course’s important characteristics of communication and empathy experiences for critical thinking. They also shared opinions on extracurricular operation plans that allow students to recognize changes themselves for the efficient management of the course.
