Gwangju Nam-gu Provides Home Repairs and Air Conditioners to 121 Low-Income Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 23rd that it will implement a repair and maintenance benefit project, including housing repairs and air conditioner installations, for 121 houses of recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security housing benefit.
The repair and maintenance benefit project is intended for households receiving housing benefits who own their own homes. To promote this project, Nam-gu signed a '2021 Repair and Maintenance Benefit Project Consignment Agreement' with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation earlier this month.
Accordingly, Nam-gu will invest about 834 million KRW in project funds to support the renovation of houses for National Basic Livelihood Security housing benefit recipients in the district, and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation will carry out light, medium, and major repair projects depending on the aging level of the houses.
There are 65 households eligible for light repairs such as wallpapering, flooring, and window replacement; 24 households eligible for medium repairs supporting insulation and heating work; and 32 households identified as needing major repairs including roof, bathroom, and kitchen renovations.
In addition, Nam-gu plans to install air conditioners in each household so that members of low-income families can spend the summer cool and comfortably even during severe heat waves.
Nam-gu plans to begin housing renovations and air conditioner installations for each household starting in June, and it is expected that once this project is completed, the quality of life for housing benefit recipient households will greatly improve due to enhanced living environments.
