KT Collaborates with Hyundai Engineering on Woonamtteul Smart City Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Seol Gina Jo] KT announced on the 21st that it recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hyundai Engineering at Hyundai Engineering’s Gyedong office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, focusing on collaborating to develop the Unamtteul Smart City in Osan, Gyeonggi-do.
The detailed contents include ▲ basic planning and development of Osan Unamtteul Smart City ▲ cooperation on joint project participation plans ▲ expansion of smart city services ▲ establishment of a data ecosystem using an urban development platform ▲ development of living service infrastructure ▲ collaboration on innovative service development, among others.
Osan Unamtteul Smart City is a complex district development project jointly promoted by Hyundai Engineering and Osan City. It involves supplying land for knowledge industry facilities, multi-family housing, neighborhood living facilities, and complex facilities in the eastern area of Osan City Hall. It is a large-scale joint investment development project where the private and public sectors collaborate to promote a smart city, attracting significant attention.
KT plays a key role in establishing the data ecosystem essential for smart city creation, including artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud technologies. Both companies expect that this MOU will maximize mutual synergy through sharing experiences and networks between the two firms.
Currently, KT participates in domestic and international smart city development projects, including the Guri and Cheongna smart city projects, based on technologies and know-how such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data. In particular, KT plans to lead sustainable smart city development by enhancing urban efficiency and improving residents’ quality of life through its 5G network infrastructure and core Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as ABC (AI, Big Data, Cloud).
