The ‘General Rural and Fishing Village Development Project’ is a life-centered project that supports the innovative growth of fishing villages by expanding living infrastructure to improve residential conditions, increase fishing village income, and create a sustainable fishing village economy.
First, in the 2018 contest project, the Bogil zone was selected. The Bogil zone targets the Yesong and Yejak villages, investing 13 billion KRW over four years to focus on the construction of the Yesong-Yejak sea access road, the community center ‘Oujeong,’ the art space ‘Sosojae,’ and the village joint brand homestay island stay ‘Eobusasiga’ project.
Currently, the project including the Yesong-Yejak sea access road, Oujeong, and Sosojae, which began construction last December, is being promoted with the goal of completion by this December.
The 2019 selected project is the Yaksan zone, targeting Jakryong-ri and three other villages, investing 6.3 billion KRW over four years to focus on creating Yaksan Paradise with multipurpose sports facilities, a small library, and a direct transaction market, as well as the Yaksan Jangyong Port multipurpose fishermen’s rest area.
The Yaksan zone is currently under basic plan approval consultation, and the project is planned to be completed by 2022 through prompt promotion.
The 2020 selected project is the Geumil zone, targeting Dongsong, Gungang, and Yonghang villages, investing 9 billion KRW over five years to promote the creation of a safety hub port, a youth exchange center, a childcare and welfare center, and projects such as a return-to-fishing experience house.
The Geumil zone project is currently in the process of establishing the basic plan and is scheduled to be completed by 2024.
The 2021 project selected the Gogeum zone. Targeting Hangdong, Cheokchan, and Hwaseong villages in Gogeum, a total project cost of 6.9 billion KRW will be invested over four years to equip village joint workshops, fishing gear joint storage, cultural centers, resource circulation facilities, and create a direct transaction market to seek new income generation in fishing villages.
