Daejeon City Supports Hydrogen Car Purchase with 32.5 Million KRW per Vehicle
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City will provide a purchase subsidy of 32.5 million KRW per eco-friendly hydrogen car this year. The total support scale has increased by 18% compared to the previous year, covering 356 vehicles.
According to the city on the 15th, eligible applicants are citizens aged 18 or older residing in Daejeon before the announcement date (15th) or corporations (organizations). Individuals can apply for subsidies for one vehicle per household, and corporations for one vehicle each.
The city plans to prioritize the distribution of 36 hydrogen cars (10% of the total supply) to vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, persons with disabilities, national merit recipients, as well as families with multiple children, first-time buyers, and those eligible for old diesel vehicle scrappage support.
Those wishing to purchase a hydrogen car must sign a purchase contract at each Hyundai Motor sales branch and then apply for the subsidy through the Low Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System.
Afterwards, the city will select subsidy recipients in the order of vehicle delivery and registration, and pay the subsidy collectively to the sellers.
Hydrogen car buyers who receive the subsidy must comply with a mandatory operation period of two years within Daejeon, and vehicle transfers during this period can only be made to Daejeon citizens. Additionally, if the vehicle is scrapped or deregistered during the mandatory operation period, the subsidy will be reclaimed proportionally based on the period.

Meanwhile, to minimize inconvenience for hydrogen car users in the region, the city plans to add three more charging stations this year in Shindae, Nangwol, and Jawoondae, in addition to the three currently operating stations in Hakha, Jungdo, and Shintanjin.
