Joo Ho-young: "The ruling party should conduct a thorough investigation of its own members first"
"Joint Investigation Team's First Probe Is Hollow, Investigation Scope Must Be Expanded"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, urged the ruling party to conduct a ‘self-comprehensive investigation’ first. He stated that if a full investigation is conducted on the ruling party, including local government heads and public enterprise employees affiliated with the ruling party, the opposition party will also comply with the comprehensive investigation.
On the 12th, at the People Power Party’s floor countermeasure meeting, Floor Leader Joo said, "The Democratic Party of Korea should first conduct a comprehensive investigation on its own party members, then on metropolitan government heads, local council members, basic local government heads, and public enterprise employees affiliated with the party. After that, we will conduct our own comprehensive investigation."
He criticized, "Yesterday’s first results from the government joint investigation team were a meaningless, hollow investigation," adding, "It was insufficient to appease the public’s anger."
Floor Leader Joo said, "They only led with verbal attacks, and the self-investigation showed its limitations by excluding not only covert transactions but also investigations into family and relatives," and added, "Although they hurried to announce it claiming to calm the public’s anger, it only increased doubts about the investigation capabilities regarding real estate speculation and the government’s will."
He also emphasized toward the government, "The Blue House should significantly expand the investigation scope from administrative officers to the president’s family," and stated, "The Moon administration focused solely on scapegoating for the past four years and neglected self-reform, resulting in this real estate speculation gate."
Floor Leader Joo pointed out, "The Democratic Party is so desperate about the April 7 election that, just a month before the by-election, they are engrossed in all kinds of slander and negative campaigns," and added, "They are recklessly spreading baseless suspicions ranging from illegal surveillance during the MB government, preferential sales of LCT, to now even their daughter’s admission scandal."
