Operation of Non-Face-to-Face Reading Culture Programs Including a Book Talk on the 11th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Provincial Library announced on the 10th that it will operate the first half of 2021 reading culture programs as non-face-to-face lectures so that residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic can enjoy the pleasure of reading books.
The programs consist of 13 courses including ▲Picture Book Therapy Prenatal Program for Pregnant Women ▲Online Elementary School Book Club for Children ▲Meeting with Children's Book Authors ▲Wisdom Forest Residents' Lectures ▲Reading Discussion for Adults ▲Adults Reading Picture Books ▲“Poetry at Your Fingertips,” a daily poetry transcription program ▲Parent Education for Me and My Child, featuring lectures by five children's book critics.
The “Wisdom Forest Residents' Lectures” will begin on the 11th. Novelist Kim Tak-hwan and Lee Dong-hyun, CEO of Misillan, will hold a book talk on the theme “The Path of Beauty,” based on the 2021 Jeonnam Province Book of the Year literary selection, “Beauty is to Protect.” A total of nine lectures will be held, including this event.
In addition, an online book play program will be conducted for children in local child care facilities, and various reading activities will be promoted by visiting the Jeonnam Library for the Visually Impaired and the Jeonnam Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled.
Selected as a 2021 Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism support project, a “Reading Education for Multicultural Children” program will also be implemented. The “Media Education Lifelong Classroom,” hosted by the Korea Press Foundation, was also selected as a public contest project and will be conducted.
Jeong Seok-ho, director of Jeonnam Provincial Library, said, “During these difficult times due to COVID-19, I hope residents wisely overcome by reading books,” and added, “We hope many people will show interest and participate in the various lectures prepared by the library.”
