View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) announced on the 10th that it sent a congratulatory letter to Suzanne Clark, the newly appointed president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, who will take office on the 11th.
Choi Tae-won, president of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated in the letter, "Korea and the United States have been allies and economic cooperation partners for nearly 70 years," adding, "The KCCI and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have played a pivotal role in strengthening the Korea-U.S. economic cooperation relationship."
He continued, "Under the Biden administration, which launched this January, I hope the U.S. Chamber of Commerce will strive to strengthen Korea-U.S. relations as a new leader of the American economy."
In the letter, President Choi mentioned that he participated in the KCCI economic delegation during President Moon Jae-in's first visit to the U.S. four years ago, saying, "Once the COVID-19 situation settles, I hope to visit the U.S. with Korean businesspeople to continue discussions on promoting Korea-U.S. friendship and economic cooperation agendas."
President Choi was elected as the president of the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry on February 23. Following the custom that the president of the Seoul Chamber also serves as the president of the KCCI, he is scheduled to officially take office as the president of the KCCI on March 24.

Kang Seok-gu, head of the International Trade Department at the KCCI, said, "New leadership has emerged simultaneously in the economic organizations representing both Korea and the U.S. We expect this to be a momentum for strengthening the partnership between economic leaders of the two countries," adding, "Based on past successful experiences such as jointly promoting the Korea-U.S. FTA and the SME Innovation Forum with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the KCCI hopes to discover new agendas and continue cooperative projects in the post-COVID-19 era."
