Gwangjin-gu, Cracking Down on Private Gatherings of Five or More to Prevent Cluster Infections
Fines Imposed on 8 Confirmed Cases in Guui-dong Social Gathering Cluster... Investigation Referred to Gwangjin Police for Non-Cooperation in Epidemiological Survey Due to Inconsistent Statements... Fines to Be Imposed on Jayang-dong Social Gathering After Epidemiological Survey Completion
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is putting all efforts into cracking down on 'private gatherings of five or more people' to block local infections, following recent cluster infections caused by 'gatherings of acquaintances.'
First, the district imposed a fine of 100,000 KRW each on a total of eight people, including Mr. A, who violated the rule prohibiting private gatherings of five or more people by holding a gathering of acquaintances in a one-room apartment in Guui-dong last February.
Additionally, during the epidemiological investigation, due to suspected false statements or intentional omission of facts such as inconsistent testimonies among confirmed cases and refusal to testify, the case has been referred to the Gwangjin Police Station for investigation.
The district plans to impose additional fines based on the investigation results.
Furthermore, additional confirmed cases caused by 'gatherings of acquaintances' have occurred in Jayang-dong, and fines will be imposed after the epidemiological investigation is completed.
Along with this, to prevent recurrence of similar cases, the district will conduct a full survey of similar facilities and blind spots where private gatherings occur in each neighborhood and strengthen crackdowns on private gatherings of five or more people.
When violations are detected, strong administrative measures such as fines, penalties, and claims for quarantine costs will be taken.
The district is actively informing professional organizations and others about the administrative orders to raise public awareness and promote compliance with quarantine rules.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The careless thought of ‘I will be fine’ can cause harm to myself and my neighbors,” and added, “The district will take strong administrative actions against cases violating quarantine rules such as the ban on private gatherings of five or more people to protect the lives and safety of residents.”
