[Weather] Mild Saturday... Heavy Snow Forecasted in Yeongdong Region
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] On Saturday the 6th, the sky will be mostly cloudy nationwide and will become overcast from daytime.
Snow is forecast for the Yeongdong region of Gangwon, the northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk, and the northern east coast of Gyeongbuk. This precipitation will start as rain and gradually change to snow from dawn, mainly along the east coast region.
Expected snowfall amounts are 5 to 10 cm (with some areas exceeding 15 cm) in Yeongdong, Gangwon, and 1 to 5 cm in the northeastern mountainous areas and northern east coast of Gyeongbuk.
Inland areas of Honam are forecast to receive about 1 mm of rain in the evening.
The nationwide morning low temperatures will range from 0 to 8 degrees Celsius, similar to Friday (-2.8 to 9.4 degrees), and the daytime high temperatures will be between 0 and 16 degrees Celsius, somewhat lower than the previous day (13.5 to 20.0 degrees).
The western side of the Baekdudaegan mountain range will experience mild weather with daytime temperatures between 10 and 15 degrees, but the eastern side will show temperatures below 5 degrees due to the influence of cold east winds.
The Korea Meteorological Administration has advised caution to prevent cold damage to crops as temperatures in the Gangwon mountainous areas will drop below freezing.
Fine dust levels are forecast to be between 'Good' and 'Moderate' across all regions. However, southern Gyeonggi and the Chungcheong area will temporarily experience 'Unhealthy' levels in the morning.
Until the morning, sea fog will flow into the west coast, inland Gyeonggi, inland Chungcheong, and inland Jeonbuk, causing dense fog with visibility below 200 meters in some areas. Other inland regions may also experience fog with visibility under 1 km, so caution is advised for traffic safety.
