The Korea-Japan Economic Association is a domestic economic organization established in 1981 to promote economic cooperation between Korea and Japan, led by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries, and the Korea International Trade Association. Currently, Kim Yoon, Chairman of Samyang Holdings, serves as the association's president.
This agreement was pursued based on the mutual recognition to build a more progressive relationship grounded in the cooperation and trust developed through the Korea-Japan Economic Conference and the Korea-China-Japan Economic Exchange Forum between the two organizations.
It is particularly meaningful as a business agreement with a prominent economic organization that can assist in exchange and cooperation between Korean and Japanese companies during a time when attracting overseas companies has been challenging due to COVID-19.
The main areas of cooperation include ▲ successful promotion of both organizations' projects and enhancement of exchange and cooperation between Korean and Japanese companies ▲ cooperation and investment attraction between Korean and Japanese companies ▲ mutual support for publicity and exchange events.
Chairman Kim said, "We will cooperate so that Japanese companies, which have a strong connection with the association, can take an interest in Saemangeum and invest," adding, "Following the Korea-China-Japan Pan-Yellow Sea Conference held in Saemangeum, I hope that meetings hosted by the association and the Korea-Japan Foundation will be held more frequently in the future."
Yang Choong-mo, Administrator of the Saemangeum Development Agency, emphasized, "We will strive to attract overseas companies so that Saemangeum can become a place of exchange where multifaceted cooperation among foreign companies takes place, and accelerate improvements in residential conditions for foreigners through the creation of a smart waterfront city."
