BBQ's Takeout-Only Store 'BSK' Surpasses 200 Locations
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Genesis BBQ announced on the 5th that its delivery and takeout specialty store, BSK (BBQ Smart Kitchen), has opened its 200th location.
BSK is a delivery and takeout specialty store that officially launched in June last year and opened its 100th store in December, just six months later. It has now surpassed 200 stores in just three more months.
BSK, which can be started with a capital of around 50 million KRW, is especially popular among the 2030 generation seeking new opportunities through entrepreneurship amid the prolonged employment downturn caused by COVID-19. In fact, more than half of BSK’s franchisees are from the 2030 generation. Young people from various fields including existing food service workers, as well as those from clothing, travel, and sports industries, are entering the startup market through BSK. By specializing only in delivery and takeout without dine-in (hall) customers, BSK offers excellent efficiency in store operation and management, resulting in high profitability relative to the initial investment cost.
Meanwhile, BBQ has actively supported job creation for young people facing unemployment by signing a business agreement with Hana Bank in November last year to provide a 1% ultra-low interest loan program (up to 50 million KRW per store) for the 2030 generation aspiring to start a business. Currently, 45 individuals are preparing to start BSK franchises through Hana Bank’s franchise loan.
