Orion Relaunches 'Wakle' After 15 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Orion announced on the 5th that it will re-release ‘Wackle,’ which was loved for its crispy texture and sweet and salty (sweet+salty) taste, after 15 years.
Orion decided to re-release the product after receiving more than 150 consumer requests just last year through its official website, social networking services (SNS), and customer center asking for Wackle to be brought back.
Wackle was a product sold from the early to mid-2000s that reinterpreted ‘pretzels’ into bite-sized pieces, characterized by a unique texture that crumbles in the mouth when bitten. In particular, the sweet and salty seasoning captivated consumers’ tastes at the time, creating a dedicated fan base for Wackle.
The returning Wackle uses cream onion-flavored seasoning to faithfully recreate the nostalgic ‘onion baguette’ taste while enhancing the addictive appeal of the sweet and salty flavor the more you eat. Additionally, through a dough fermentation process similar to bread-making, the savory flavor and distinctive crispy texture of baguette bread have also been upgraded.
Orion has been listening to consumers’ opinions through various channels and reflecting them in its products. Especially, products re-released due to consumer requests such as ‘Taeyang-ui Mat Sun,’ ‘Chicken Pop,’ and ‘Baebae’ have received much love and established themselves as steady sellers.
