[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is accepting applications for employment retention support funds for unpaid leave workers affected by COVID-19 until the 31st of this month.
The eligibility criteria are workers belonging to companies with fewer than 50 employees located in Gwangjin-gu who took unpaid leave for 5 or more days per month during the period from November 14 last year to March 31 this year. However, employment insurance must be maintained until April 30, and non-profit organizations, sole proprietors, etc., are excluded.
The support amount is 500,000 KRW per month regardless of the number of leave days if unpaid leave is taken for 5 or more days per month, with a maximum support of 1,500,000 KRW for up to 3 months.
If the budget for the support funds is exceeded, applicants will be selected according to the priority criteria: first priority is businesses subject to gathering bans, second priority is businesses with operational restrictions, and third priority is other businesses.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Gwangjin Family Shelter (Basement 1, Safety Management Building) in the district office with the application form, business registration certificate, and employment insurance workplace qualification acquisition list by the 31st, or via email, fax, or mail.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “Through this support fund, we aim to help stabilize the livelihoods of workers facing difficulties due to gathering bans and operational restrictions caused by the resurgence of COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to prepare effective policies to revitalize the local economy and overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”
