Goheung-gun Provides Maximum Support for Small Cold Storage Units, the Most Popular Agricultural Product Among Farmers
Additional Support of 150 Military Units Following 64 Units Matched by DoBi, Total Support of 214 Units
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung County (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 2nd that it will significantly expand support for the small-scale agricultural product cold storage facility project, which has greatly helped increase the marketability of agricultural products and farm income by controlling shipments for small-scale farms cultivating fruit trees, vegetables, and specialty crops on less than 2 hectares, by providing a total of 214 units with a project budget of 1.284 billion KRW.
The county secured 380 million KRW in provincial matching funds for 64 units this year and, responding to farmers' demands, additionally invested 900 million KRW of county funds, securing a total project budget of 1.28 billion KRW to support 214 small cold storage units of 9.9㎡ each.
The support targets are agricultural management entities registered in Goheung and farms registered in the agricultural support book with less than 2 hectares of horticultural crop cultivation such as fruit trees and vegetables. Selected subsidy recipients will receive 50% support of the 6 million KRW project cost.
Goheung County received project applications through the resident's local town and township offices in January, completed the review, and finalized 214 farms through the Goheung County Agriculture, Rural, and Food Industry Policy Committee scheduled for the 16th.
Additionally, to ensure efficient implementation of the subsidy project and prevent poor construction in advance, seven specialized construction companies with verified construction capabilities and after-sales service (A/S) were selected through a public contest. The county requested these companies to do their best in safe and reliable construction and after-sales management for the farms.

A county official stated, “The small agricultural product cold storage installation support project is highly utilized for preventing flood shipments and maintaining freshness of local agricultural products, receiving great responses from farmers. The county will continue to expand this project.”
