[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan's Gijang-gun has hired 11 professional psychological counselors responsible for counseling students and parents, and 6 student safety managers for safe commuting to and from school, placing them in 7 middle schools and 8 elementary schools to prevent school violence with the start of the March semester.
Since opening the School Violence Reporting Center directly under the county governor's office in February 2012 to eradicate school violence and realize responsible administration, the project has been continuously promoted by hiring dedicated personnel every year. Among local governments in Busan, Gijang-gun was the first to implement this project.
Last year, the psychological counselors assigned to 15 schools in the Gijang area conducted over 1,500 psychological counseling sessions and psychological tests for students and parents.
The student safety managers achieved more than 3,800 cases through safety patrols, preventive education, and guidance activities.
