[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced on the 1st that it has raised the emergency response level for heavy snow from Level 1 to Level 2 as of 9 PM.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that although Level 1 of the CDSCH was activated from noon that day, the response level was increased due to severe traffic congestion on highways in the Gangwon region caused by heavy snow.

Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Interior and Safety and head of the CDSCH, instructed, "Since traffic congestion is occurring on highways in Gangwon Province due to heavy snow, related agencies should make full use of available resources to promptly address vehicles stuck on the highways and ensure thorough snow removal operations."
