High Pathogenicity AI Confirmed at Laying Hen Farm in Pocheon, Gyeonggi
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] A highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) case has been confirmed at a laying hen farm in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 28th, the Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters (CAC) announced that after receiving a suspicious report from the farm, tests conducted by quarantine authorities detected the H5 AI antigen, and subsequent detailed tests confirmed it as the highly pathogenic H5N8 strain.
The CAC plans to carry out preventive culling of poultry raised at farms near the outbreak site and implement strengthened quarantine measures such as movement restrictions and intensive disinfection.
