Gwangju City Installs and Operates AI Translation Devices in Comprehensive Civil Service Office
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it will install and operate AI interpretation devices starting from the 26th to expand civil service and daily convenience services for multinational foreigners visiting the Comprehensive Civil Service Office.
The real-time voice recognition interpretation devices to be placed in the civil service office support 65 multinational languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and French, enabling smooth civil service processing for socially vulnerable foreigners.
The interpretation devices were donated free of charge by DotnetSoft Co., Ltd. (CEO Choi Byung-jun), an IT company based in Gwangju participating in the AI-centered Digital New Deal leading city initiative.
Until now, there had been difficulties in civil service processing due to the lack of foreign language interpretation service assistants in the Comprehensive Civil Service Office, but with the installation of these real-time AI interpretation devices, barrier-free civil services can now be provided without language obstacles.
Gwangju plans to place AI interpretation devices in district civil service offices as well, based on demand surveys from autonomous districts, to further enhance convenience for foreigners.
