Police Arrest Man in His 40s Threatening to Plant Bomb at Gangnam Station
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 40s who threatened by calling 112 claiming he had planted a bomb at Gangnam Station was arrested by the police.
Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 18th that they have detained Mr. A on charges of obstruction of official duties by deception and are conducting an investigation.
According to the police, Mr. A called 112 at around 1:40 a.m. that day and threatened, "I have planted bombs in the women's restroom at Gangnam Station and various places in the subway, and set them to explode tomorrow morning," adding, "If you don't come to me immediately, I will detonate them."

About 20 police officers who were dispatched searched the area and found Mr. A, arresting him on the spot. When a male officer tried to verify his identity, Mr. A reportedly showed violent behavior, saying, "I will only talk to female officers." During the police investigation, he stated that he is a patient with schizophrenia and said, "I was angry because the police did not do as I wanted."
