Gyeongnam Office of Education Develops Plan for 'Happy School Meals Enjoying Food'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education announced the '2021 School Meal Basic Plan' on the 16th, which includes providing safe and high-quality school meals along with content for happy meals.
The office prepared the basic school meal plan by reflecting amendments to related laws by the Ministry of Education and incorporating opinions from school members.
This year's basic plan consists of 22 detailed tasks under three initiatives: operating high-quality school meals, providing safer school meals, and strengthening nutrition and dietary education.
The emphasized project this year is the qualitative change of meals, aiming for a major transformation to enjoyable and happy school meals.
Additionally, story-centered experiential menus and educational materials linked to character education such as 'Chukha Bapsang' (Celebration Table), intercultural education such as 'Duru Bapsang' (Inclusive Table), occasion-based education such as 'Day Bapsang', and emotional education such as 'Gamseong Bapsang' (Emotional Table) will be provided to make meals that children look forward to.
Furthermore, public kindergartens and private kindergartens with more than 100 students, which were previously excluded from meal targets, have been added to the meal recipients to strengthen hygiene management and provide safe meals.
