Seodaemun-gu Supports 'Gender Equality Fund' to Promote Women's Rights and Empowerment

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) will support the 2021 Gender Equality Fund through a public contest to promote gender equality, expand women's social participation, protect women's human rights, and enhance women's rights, thereby realizing a women-friendly city.
The target projects include ▲spreading a culture of gender equality together within the local community ▲creating a safe women-friendly city ▲establishing a job environment ▲harmonious coexistence of work and family ▲violence prevention and support for the independence of women in crisis.
Related organizations, non-profit corporations, institutions, and communities with five or more members can apply.
Applicants can download the application form and project plan templates from the ‘Notices and Announcements’ section on the Seodaemun-gu website, complete them, and submit by 6 p.m. on the 23rd of this month via email (dh86k@sdm.go.kr) or by visiting the Women and Family Division on the 2nd floor of the district office.
The ‘Seodaemun-gu Gender Equality Committee’ will review the project purpose and appropriateness, project execution capability and feasibility, budget adequacy, and self-funding ability to determine the supported projects and amounts. During the review, representatives of the applying organizations must attend to explain their project plans.
The total project budget is 50 million KRW, with support provided within a range of up to 8 million KRW per project. For reference, one organization can apply for only one project. The project execution period is from the contract signing date around March this year until October 15.
Last year, the district selected and supported a total of seven projects, including ▲women obtaining and sharing qualifications as book play instructors ▲support for non-disabled children of hearing-impaired parents and hearing-impaired individuals ▲establishing a culture of gender equality at home through men’s cooking activities ▲programs for the settlement of marriage immigrants in Korean life.
