Jeonnam Province to Hire 1,826 Local Public Officials to Lead Post-Corona Era
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 15th that it will newly hire 1,826 local government officials this year to lead the post-COVID-19 era.
A total of 32 job categories will be selected, including 692 administrative positions, 255 facility positions, and 152 social welfare positions.
By rank, there will be 64 at grade 7 (administration and veterinary), 99 at grade 8 (nursing and health care), 1,585 at grade 9 (administration, agriculture, facilities, and 18 other categories), 46 research officers, and 32 instructors.
Compared to last year's recruitment numbers, the grade 7 selection decreased by 19 from 83 to 64, and grades 8 and 9 decreased by 24 from 1,708 to 1,684. The number of research officers and instructors increased by 5 from 73 to 78.
The principle is an open competitive recruitment exam. For research positions and some technical positions requiring specialized knowledge and experience, a career competitive recruitment exam will be conducted for those who meet the qualification requirements.
In particular, to expand public service opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups, 167 persons with disabilities, 39 low-income individuals, 14 national veterans, and 31 high school graduates (including prospective graduates) will be selected through separate screening.
Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the province plans to further strengthen the test site quarantine manual to prioritize the health and safety of residents and examinees.
Additionally, special attention from examinees is required regarding changes in the recruitment exam system, such as the revision of test subjects, to hire talent suitable for rapidly changing administrative demands.
The major changes this year include: ▲No duplicate application submissions for local government recruitment exams held simultaneously nationwide (June 5 and October 16) by city/province ▲Elimination of additional points (0.5~1%) for telecommunications, information processing, and office management certifications ▲Replacement of English and Korean history subjects in the grade 7 public recruitment exam with proficiency tests ▲The agricultural sector’s rural instructor agricultural category will be conducted entirely as a career competitive recruitment exam to select candidates with specialized knowledge and experience.
Applications can be submitted through the Local Government Internet Application Center. Detailed information such as residency restrictions and exam schedules can be found on the Jeonnam Province website under the exam information section.
