[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Mr. A, who runs a cafe in Chuncheon, had to close his business due to financial difficulties caused by COVID-19. In this process, the landlord is demanding excessive restoration of the interior and unauthorized extensions that were inherited from the previous tenant. Frustrated, Mr. A consulted the Management Support Group and responded to the landlord based on a lawyer's answer stating, "If the landlord took over the facilities installed by the previous tenant and leases them as is, the tenant has no obligation to dismantle those facilities."
Mr. B, who runs a small business in Busan, had to temporarily close due to difficulties in operating caused by COVID-19. Wanting to know how to pay wages to employees during the closure, Mr. B sought advice from the Management Support Group. Through consultation with a labor attorney, he was informed about two options: obtaining unpaid leave applications from employees and having them take unpaid leave when the company is closed due to lack of business, or reporting the closure plan to employment insurance, paying employees 70% of their wages during the closure period, and receiving support for three-quarters of that amount from employment insurance.
The Korea Federation of SMEs (Chairman Kim Ki-moon) announced on the 15th that it has published the '2021 Yellow Umbrella Management Support Group Consultation Casebook,' which compiles major management difficulties faced by small businesses and micro-enterprises.
This consultation casebook was realistically organized based on major management difficulty consultation cases of small businesses and micro-enterprises who received advice from 330 experts in eight specialized fields including law, labor, and taxation through the 'Yellow Umbrella Management Support Group.'
In particular, it includes over 200 diverse consultation cases and precedents that anyone can encounter during business operations, such as △commercial lease disputes △labor contract drafting △comprehensive income tax filing, and more.
Park Yong-man, head of the SME Federation’s Mutual Aid Business Group, said, "We hope this consultation casebook will help alleviate the management difficulties of small businesses and micro-enterprises even a little," and added, "We plan to continuously expand free consultation opportunities and systematic consultation support in specialized fields where costs and information barriers are high for small businesses and micro-enterprises."
