Gangbuk-gu 'Disabled Family Support Center' Opens
Family Support Program, Parent Capacity Building Education, Integrated Case Management Provided... Located at Beondong Volunteer Center, Open Weekdays 9 AM to 6 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) has newly opened the doors of the "Gangbuk-gu Disabled Family Support Center" earlier this month.
The "Disabled Family Support Center" provides care services and programs tailored to the characteristics and needs of families with disabled members. It plays a role in alleviating the social and psychological difficulties experienced by families with disabled persons by connecting various community resources.
The center offers not only care support but also customized family support projects and capacity-building education. In particular, leisure culture programs provide opportunities to reduce stress among family members and broaden mutual understanding. It also plans to assist with parent education and support self-help group activities among families with disabled members.
Additionally, the center identifies disabled households in welfare blind spots early and supports integrated case management. General counseling, such as information on raising children with disabilities, is provided year-round, and if further counseling intervention is needed, referrals to specialized institutions are made.
The facility is located on the 3rd floor of the Volunteer Center building at 199-9 Ohyeon-ro. It is scheduled to relocate to the nearby Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled in the first half of next year.
Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.
The service is available to parents of disabled persons who bear caregiving burdens, as well as non-disabled siblings. Disabled persons aged 6 to under 65 who need daily assistance can use the daily care services.
When family members with disabilities are hospitalized, receiving medical treatment, or engaged in work activities, emergency care services can be used for up to 24 hours annually. Additionally, care during school vacations for disabled students can be requested.
The service fee is 1,000 KRW per hour, and 500 KRW for National Basic Livelihood Security recipients and others. Applicants must confirm by phone and then visit the facility for consultation.
For more details, inquiries can be made via the center’s website or by phone.
