Yangcheon-gu Supports 'Creating Apartment Communities That Communicate with Neighbors'
Accepting Applications for 2021 Apartment Community Revitalization Contest... Consulting Service Providing Direct Visits and Counseling by Community Revitalization Experts
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) is promoting the ‘2021 Apartment Community Revitalization Contest Project’ to foster a healthy residential community culture in apartment complexes and improve the quality of life for residents.
This project supports part of the costs needed for community revitalization projects proposed and directly participated in by residents to enhance community spirit through communication among neighbors within apartment complexes.
The contest targets programs that promote community revitalization by neighbors participating together, such as green markets, mutual aid, hobby classes, child education, exercise, and volunteer activities, providing up to 3 million KRW per complex.
To encourage continuous participation from more communities, the self-funding rate of the total project cost is differentiated from 10% to 40% depending on community participation training.
This year, priority support will be given to public interest projects that solve village problems or assist neighbors in need, and it is expected that active exchanges among residents and a unified apartment community culture will be created during the project implementation.
The project targets apartment complexes in the region, and those wishing to participate can submit a project proposal to the Housing Division of the district office from February 8 to March 5, jointly signed by a community revitalization group with at least 10 members, the residents’ (tenants’) representative meeting, and the management entity.
Submitted projects will be selected through a written review by the Apartment Support Deliberation Committee (evaluating project feasibility, necessity, ripple effect, feasibility, and resident demand) and, if necessary, an on-site inspection.
The final selected programs will be confirmed in March and individually notified to each complex. To facilitate easy application for the contest, consulting services will also be provided where community revitalization specialists visit complexes that request counseling.
Since 2011, the district has continuously supported community revitalization projects. The number of participating complexes has increased every year, with 17 apartment complexes participating last year, carrying out various projects such as sharing side dishes with the elderly, campaigns supporting COVID-19 medical staff, and the Flower Day event delivering flowers to grateful neighbors, receiving enthusiastic responses from many residents.
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “I thank the residents who carried out various projects despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19 last year, and I hope that this year’s apartment community revitalization project will make apartments happy residential spaces where communication and coexistence are possible.”
